Atlantic Ocean Overview
The Atlantic Ocean is perhaps the greatest of the world's seven seas. Scenic beaches found in Aruba, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Nantucket, Cape Cod, The Jersey Shore and Florida Keys, to name a few, are some of the finest tourist destinations in the world.
Hotel chains such as Marriott, Westin, and Hilton routinely build structures that line Atlantic shores. The Atlantic Ocean routinely invites it's guest's to view, swim, relax, meet and or simply admire it's sparkling waters. Today a room with an ocean view of the Atlantic is much desired.
Cruise lines such as Holland America, Norwegian, Carinval, Disney, Royal Carribian, Princess regularly traverse the sea paths of this great waterway.
Bounded on the west by North and South America, the prominent underwater feature of the second largest ocean in the world is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge; a submarine mountain range extending from Iceland in the north reaching the maximum width of nearly 1,600 kilometers. The Puerto Trench located in the North Atlantic is the deepest of all the several trenches that are present and found on the ocean floor of the Atlantic.
